Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind concept art
Concept art for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind set to open at Epcot by 2021.

The highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy coaster that has been under construction at Epcot for two years, now has a name and some new details, but alas, no opening date yet.

The indoor coaster will be called Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This is being called the first “other-world” pavilion. The attraction will start in the Galaxarium where guests will learn about similarities between Earth and Xandar, a planet prominently featured in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. As the word “Galaxarium” implies, this will be a planetarium-like experience.

You’ll then board a Nova ship to view Earth from Space. Once the Guardians of the Galaxy show up, that’s when things will get crazy. The attraction will feature the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster and a 360-degree rotating vehicle.

Though no opening date or season has been announced, this attraction still expected to be open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2021.

I can’t wait for this attraction. Mission Breakout at California Adventure is awesome, but I’m crossing my fingers that Cosmic Rewind will blow it away and set the stage for the Avengers attraction coming to DCA in Phase 2 of Avengers Campus.
