Starting on January 9, 2024, some of the major changes that went into effect in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic will finally return, at least in part, to their pre-pandemic ways.

The biggest change that will certainly make many parkgoers happy is that park reservations will no longer be needed for people holding date-based tickets (basically most standard tickets). Additionally, while annual passholders and other non-date-based ticketholders will still be required to make park reservations, “good-to-go days” will be introduced for passholders which will not require a park reservation but may still be limited to certain parks on certain days.

The other big announcement is that dining plans will also return on January 9 for Disney hotel guests. The two options will be the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan or the Disney Dining Plan.

Disney hotel guests will also continue to get early theme park admission in 2024, and deluxe resort guests will continue to have access to extended evening hours at select parks as well.

Lastly, Disney teased that an update to Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane selections will come in the new year that will finally allow folks to make selections before the day of their park visit. Additional details including when this will be rolled out will be announced at a later date.

Bookings for 2024 Walt Disney World visits will open on May 31, 2023. As of now, no changes have been announced for Disneyland.
