We’re just a little over a month out from the start of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 2023 and the park has dumped the rest of the event’s lineup all at once, seven new houses, all the scare zones, and the entertainment offerings. Let’s dive in.

A little synergy is always expected, and this year is no different as the new sequel to The Exorcist, The Exorcist: Believer, will be part of this year’s lineup on both coasts. The film is not out until October 13, so the house will be a bit of a spoiler for the film during for the first six weeks it’s open. Watch the trailer for the film below.

A new batch of Universal Monsters are back this year on both coasts in Universal Monsters: Unmasked. The house will feature Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, the Phantom of the Opera, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the Invisible Man. It’s cool to see something other than the usual roster of monsters for this year’s offering.

And then the final five houses this year are original concepts, Dr. Oddfellow’s Twisted Origins, Dueling Dragons: Choose Thy Fate, YETI: Campground Kills, The Darkest Deal, and Bloodmoon: Dark Offerings.

Dr. Oddfellow is a callback to Halloween Horror Nights X in 2000 where he inhabited the Fearhouse house. Check out this wiki entry for info on his backstory, including his connection with Jack the Clown. Dr. Oddfellow is connected to each of the five scare zones at this year’s event as well. See details on those a few paragraphs below.

These houses join the previously announced houses featuring Stranger Things season four, The Last of Us video game, and Chucky. Speaking of Chucky, his house now officially has a name. It’s called Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count.

This year’s scare zones, all connected to Dr. Oddfellow, are Dr. Oddfellow’s Collection of Horror, Dark Zodiac, Jungle of Doom: Expedition Horror, Vamp ’69: Summer of Blood, and Shipyard 32: Horrors Unhinged. See short descriptions of the scare zones here.

This year’s show Nightmare Fuel: Revenge Dream, a follow up to the 2021 and 2022 Nightmare Fuel shows. So far there is no mention of a lagoon show for this year’s event, so Nightmare Fuel might be the only additional entertainment offering this time.

Halloween Horror Nights kicks off at the Universal Studios in Orlando on September 1 and runs on select nights through Halloween, October 31. Tickets are on sale now.
