Walt Disney World Resort hotels to add parking fees

In an disappointing move, Disney World quietly rolled out a change today that will affect a huge number of guests to its resort hotels. Effective with all reservations made at Walt Disney World Resort hotels on March 21, guests will have to pay for overnight parking.

While that news alone is a bummer, what’s weird is that you’ll pay more to park depending on where you’re staying. Value resort guests will pay $13 a night, moderate resort guests will pay $19, and deluxe resort guests will pay $24. Maybe you feel differently, but I don’t find the parking lots at the deluxe and moderate resorts any nicer to justify paying $6 or $11 more a night over the values.

While many hotels in the Orlando area charge resort fees that purportedly help pay for things like resort parking, wifi, and onsite recreation, this is the first time that Disney World has charged any such fee to its resort guests. This news comes just a month after ticket prices increased to enter Disney parks on both coasts and the promise of seasonal pricing for multi-day tickets later this year.

Will the continued price increases and new fees affect your plans for future visits to Disney World?
