This Week in Disney: Star Wars (but mostly porgs), expansion in Hong Kong, snack news, and smoke over Disneyland

Hong Kong Disneyland construction

The trailer for The Last Jedi premiered on Monday and there’s one thing everyone can agree on: Porgs are awesome.

Bet you didn’t know they had such a long history at Disneyland.

We noticed a bunch of plush Porgs for sale at Epcot last month but had no idea how adorable they’d really be!

In other Star Wars News, Rian Johnson, director of The Last Jedi, got to check out the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge construction site at Disneyland this week.

Hopefully he also got to meet Jake, the droid that’s been hanging out in Tomorrowland.

And finally for Disneyland, the parks were overtaken by smoke from a nearby canyon fire earlier this week.

Firefighters are still working to contain the blaze, which has burned over 9,000 acres and destroyed 13 homes.

Across the sea at Hong Kong Disneyland, the park is at work on a multi-year expansion that will bring a larger castle and Marvel and Frozen areas to the park.

In Orlando, the bubble waffle trend has made its way to Disney Springs, with two varieties available at AristoCrepes.

But the real news is this Dole Whip-topped pineapple upside down cake at Aloha Isle. Yes I said “real news.”
